Au revoir Paris, egun on Bayonne!
I was a complete tourist in Paris yesterday, it was great! I saw all of the main Parisian attractions: the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Champs Elysees, etc. There is a manmade beach right in the middle of the city that runs along the river where people were trying to soak in as much sun that would peak through the clouds. And just my luck, as you can see by this photo, the Louvre was closed...but the grounds on which the Louvre is situated is an architectual masterpiece in itself, so I at least I saw that. There was an amazing Russian band performing in the Paris metropolitain and I could not resist getting a quick video.
I left this morning and headed to Bayonne in the Basque region; I can already see this is a magical place. My hosts, Elisa and her mother, Mikela (I am now known as Mickela #2 in the house) have been more than hospitable. We are preparing to leave for the opening ceremonies of le fetes de Bayonne, apparently one of the craziest parties in Europe! Here we are with our white tops, red belts and red fulars preparing for the evening. Again, the fular comes back to celebrate with us!
