Mickela at SummerStage
As the four-time Emmy-winning host and executive producer of the PBS travel series Bare Feet, highlighting the diversity of dance, Mickela Mallozzi likes to say “I make new friends by dancing with strangers.” For SummerStage Anywhere, she joined Milteri Tucker Concepcion, the Founder and Artistic Director of the Bombazo Dance Company, in conversation about CONNECTION: Culture, Identity, & Community. An educator and master Bomba dancer, Tucker Concepcion lectures in dance departments on Bomba dance technique, figure and timing across the U.S.—and the world—having apprenticed and performed with Bomba elders and distinguished Bomba families throughout Puerto Rico. She’ll also soon be seen on the silver screen, set to appear as a dancer in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights The Movie.
